Mountain Leader Training. Day 1

The Eagle eyed amongst you might be able to spot three candidates in this picture. I promise you they're all heading to the same place. The other two are behind me somewhere.

A great bunch with quite an age range, though some of the youngsters already have impressive mountain logbooks.
As ever day one is a kind of "let's see where we're at, let's explain where we need to be and then let's discuss how we get there" event. A bit like the art of navigation.

It would be hard to explain how miserable the weather had been in the Lakes recently, and it's forecast to be horrid tomorrow. But. Today was Fantabulous and some of the older gentlemen in the group, including yours truly,  are a little pink this evening. Cold water helps with that. Good job it's river crossings tomorrow then.....

As I was driving out of the Brathay Estate I caught sight of this fabulous carving of everybodies favourite Guardian of the Galaxy. I stopped the van and hopped out to grab a comedy shot, kneeling down the sun made an amazing burst, perfect.
