Kitchen supper...
Backblipped 23.08.20
Today was all about the prep for Agnes and Adrian coming for dinner. Given that the dining table has morphed into my art studio, the kitchen table had to do.
It normally takes David less than 10 minutes to set the table but took much longer today. It was as though he was distracted by something. Not sure what ;-))
We had a lovely evening with A & A, lots of laughter as always when we get together. The joy of being friends since childhood means there's always something embarrassing and funny to remember.
Tonight's revelation is the possibility that their daughter Emily's (our God-daughter) boyfriend's mum, is the sister of a lad I went out with at High School! Oh the laughter at the memories. The laughter stopped abruptly though when I pointed out that the memories being discussed took place in 1980, which is 40 years ago! Scary how quickly those intervening years have gone!
This led to a conversation about making the most of life now, especially as we got the sad news this morning that a friend of the family (our brother in law's sister's partner) has passed away last night after a short illness. It was unexpected which makes it all the more shocking. It really is later than we think.
And with this in mind, plans were made for our now traditional December get-away to Aberfeldy. David is going to investigate and hopefully book it if possible. If not (or if we do book it and it's cancelled for any reason) we will still go ahead (assuming not in Lockdown again) only they will come and stay here and we will treat it as a short break. Either way, something to look forward to :-))
And the theory of it being the simple things in life that bring the most pleasure was proved once again by our enjoyment of my instant strawberry ice cream made by blitzing frozen strawberries, greek yogurt and a tiny dash of maple syrup in the Vitamix. Refreshingly delicious.
