Pale watery light on Eigg

This blip is from almost the same place as the one 2 days ago but how different the light is.

The van was lashed with wind and rain during the night but by morning had subsided enough for us to load on water for showers and drive to Mallaig in search of a Guardian. The shop had 3 in contrast to the enormous pile of Daily Mails. We stopped at the bakery which we remembered from last year. They are still over-firing their pasties but as Mr C refused to half an almond and apple one I was forced to stuff my face with a whole one to myself.

We watched the CalMac arrive from
Armadale, Skye. People in the street wore masks and kept a distance. Apparently the first Covid case has appeared in the region, possibly brought here by tourists.

The tide goes out, the tide comes in. I’m reading “A Theatre of Dreamers” by Polly Samson. It won’t take long. A pleasant holiday read, interspersed with the short stories of Raymond Calver. There’s a writer.
