Life on Mars

I rode my bike right around the levee trail today. The improvements are quite impressive. I read somewhere that the pond closest to facebook provides habitat for the endangered snowy plover, so it's going to be protected but not messed with too much. I'm not sure I've seen any of the plovers, the terrain doesn't look too inviting for them at this time of year.
Thanks to the fog, we seem to be in a clearish patch, with the smoke more pervasive to the north, east, and south. I rode very slowly, I doubt that the air quality was any worse than it is in our extremely-non-airtight house. Can't pretend it's entirely pleasant to breathe in either place.
