Neòinean-grèine
It had been intention to blip the progress of the sweetcorn in Pollok which I hadn't seen for around a week and I was hopeful that I would see sturdy becoming golden cobs. Sadly they were not in good shape, perhaps the recent poor weather has taken its toll. The cobs had grown but the ones I could see were improperly developed, grey and empty of any goodness.
By contrast, although past their best, these sunflowers looked more or less healthy. What appealed was their range of yellow and orange flowers, especially the very pale yellow ones which in the blip look darker than they should do.
Overseas travel continues to be unpredictable. I cancelled our trip to trip to Cyprus in November - the cost of a COVID test is over £150 and I have no intention of abusing the NHS option which should not be used for the purposes of travel. I am now in dialogue, as they say, with Jet2holidays attempting to regain my deposit. I think it will be a long conversation.
In other news we now both have hair cuts and look very tidy, in a shorn sheep sort of way.
My Gaelic is insufficiently strong to know the plural for sunflower, I could hazard a guess but because it involves two words I suspect any guess would wide of the mark so the singular will have to suffice. I could ask a friend.
