Old Mother West Wind

Dear Diary,

My dear grandmother read to me constantly when I was young and a favorite for both of us was the Old Mother West Wind series by Thornton Burgess.  I adored the characters and thought I would try creating some of them in needle felting.  These are my first four.  Burgess grew up on Cape Cod in Sandwich, Massachusetts and now there is a wonderful museum there that is a tribute to his 170 books and his other passion, nature conservation.  The Green Briar Nature Center is a great place to bring children to introduce them to these wonderful books.  I may try a few more of his characters in time but I will have to leave the Merry Little Breezes to the imagination!
