Between a Rock and a Hard Place
I was between a rock and a hard place this morning, but not in a figurative way.
Under the greyest of skies and the odd dancing precipitation that could have been small snowflakes or just light drops of rain, I sallied forth as a respite from reading the Sunday papers.
The rock is probably too well known to blippers but the hard place in the blip are the walls, the Flodden Wall immediately in front, and to the side the Telfer Wall, both built between the early 16th and 17th centuries as defences for the city against any marauding English after our defeat in the infamous Battle of Flodden in 1513.
Surprisingly there was no defeat or rout of the Scots on the field of Murrayfield yesterday in the rugby match against the Italians. In fact, for the first time in about 2 years the Scots were playing superbly with tries which had His Lordship and me laughing at their audacity. It's just a pity we couldn't have done as well last week against the English and brought the Calcutta Cup north.
