Bempton Cliffs
A miserable day weather wise but we made the most of it. First thing before breakfast we were walking the cliffs at RSPB Bempton watching the magnificent gannets. They are the prime reason we visit here annually, taking the chance to see the UKs largest mainland seabird colony. Whilst the guillemots and razorbills have gone and few puffins remain there are still hundreds of gannets for a few more weeks. There is lots of preening going on preparing for the forthcoming months at sea.
The first extra made me think even the gannets are testing for Coronavirus.
Later in the day we went to Scampston Hall where it rained far more than was forecast, we spent much time sheltering under trees as we left our waterproofs in the car ! The tree in extra was not the best to shelter under but I just loved its shape. Finally the walled garden within the parkland was stunning.
The evening was spent in the cottage, as they say eating in is the new going out.
I will try to catch up with journals when I get a minute.
