The King, at ease
Yesterday they had La Fête de la Galette at the maternelle school which basically means they spent all afternoon eating la galette des rois and dancing.
La Galette des rois is a tart to celebrate the epiphany and, according to wikipedia, it is traditionally sold and consumed a few days before and after this date (6 January). In fact, the selling and consumption of them seems to go on well into February, but then there isn't much else to do around here in January so it is probably not such a bad thing (except for the waistline).
In each galette there is hidden a 'fève' (a bit like the silver sixpence in the christmas pudding) and whoever gets the fève is crowned king for the day.
Judging by the number of children leaving school last night with crowns there were a lot of galettes and a lot of fèves!
