Hoverfly on a helenium

There was a long and spectacular sheet lightning storm last night which lasted over an hour. The photos weren't very good though!

Today has been very hot so I went for a walk around the village early this morning before the worst of the heat.  F then asked me if I wanted to go for a walk to recce a new walk that he'd made up using the OS map.  I can never resist a trip out so of course I went.  It was too hot to do the full walk but we checked where footpaths were and it looks as though it will be an enjoyable one to do on a cooler day.

I did a bit of weeding and tying up in the garden, the insects love the helenium and so do I!
