Heatwave

Along the way, overheated victims who could no longer cope with the constant slow ascent on their way south. Some lay in the shade, possibly waiting for better temperatures, but it will not cool down. I must have looked like this yesterday, constantly grabbing my bottle of water with a splash of cola.

But today we were drinking coffee on a shady terrace in Monschau at ten, after having cycled already 40 kilometres and cycled up the mountain at eleven. It was not that hot then. Yesterday I told you it would be a treat and that it is. It's almost 60 kilometres without any effort to Aachen.
Of course, the wind was warm and even felt hot in de sun, but I didn't put my bike in a heavier gear to gain momentum, I just pedalled a bit to maintain the speed that my bike itself had. That helped to keep from overheating.
