Diary of an Edinburgher

They fit!

What a grand day! Sunshine, blue skies, HOT! But we accomplished a lot, too.

First of all, we went to see the doggie day care - fabulous place. See ‘the doggie lounge’ where they can rest or shelter from rain (Extra 1) Archie had a good look around and seemed very impressed. He’s going there on Wednesday for the day. Exciting!

Elizabeth came and took Archie out, and as soon as he was gone, we decided to try fitting the bikes into the car boot. I must admit, we have been putting this off for as long as we could. After watching the video of how to fold up the bikes again, we did that - nae bother - and then... YES! Without too much struggle, we got them in! Just as well JR has kept up with her weight training exercises. Soooo... no new car needed...

We went to Queen’s Park, as it’s now car free all weekend. It was mobbed, but we got a park, unfolded the bikes, and we were off, up the hill and round to Dunsapie Loch. It was just glorious, sailing along, peddling gently, but whizzing uphill effortlessly. We had a wee rest at the Loch, and then round by my favourite view. But just as I came to a halt, I toppled. I think I wasn’t concentrating, and forgot to put my foot down. DUH! So that’s both elbows grazed now.

Back home, bikes in the shed, but still folded up, ready for another go tomorrow. We sat out the back in the sun and had a late lunch/early tea of yesterday’s delicious leftovers, which I’d been looking forward to all day. JR listened to her audiobook while I listened to a podcast about a forensic scientist who has convicted murderers by placing them at a scene using pollen found on their shoes or clothes. Fascinating.
