The Old Schoolhouse
Having recently done more research on our family history we have decided to visit some places to see where some of our ancestors lived.
This building, now a house, was the school where my grandmother was the village school mistress in 1894. She came from a farming family in Gloucestershire , went to teacher training college in Bristol and then went to this school in Compton Abbas, Dorset. In the village she met her husband, a farmer. Maybe they met in the church across the road from the school?.......the extra blip. They lived in the village for many years and all of their children except my mother, who was the youngest, would have been baptised in this church. ( she had 11 children with only 8 surviving to adulthood ).
A much drearier day today with rain in the evening.
