A productive day

Even though it's been chucking it down with rain all day (and I have been soaked through to my skin on both of my walks) my human has been very productive and is feeling very pleased with herself.

Sometimes she can't believe how techy she has become. A few days ago she completed a one way online interview to work for estate agents showing people around properties. Well, her 'meet & greets' are few and far between at the moment and she thought it was about time that she looked for another self-employed job that she could fit around me and her social life. Being the naturally nosey person that she is, what could be better than showing people around houses??!! So she filled in the initial application form, which was accepted and then progressed to the next stage – a one way video interview. Ie, she couldn't see who was interviewing her but the interviewers could obviously have a good look at her. Ann has only ever done one online video interview before for a minimum wage job in merchandising a couple of years ago and she got so frustrated with it that she ended up having a big RANT not realising that it was still recording. Lol!

This time she decided it wasn't worth getting stressed about it, so she didn't bother getting dressed up or putting any make-up on apart from lipstick. And before she started the interview she poured herself a large glass of wine though obviously as she is now an experienced online interview candidate she kept the wine out of the cameras view. Lol!

Anyway, long story short...................... today she received an email which said, 'We have reviewed your video and are delighted to advise that you have been accepted to progress to the next (and final) stage of our application process.'

Seriously?!! The world has gone mad. Why does nobody talk to anybody anymore???? Ann now has to get a DBS check (cost £23) and fill in a form with a 'happy smiley photo of herself against a clear background', because that is what the clients will see. Apparently the photo can't contain pets, alcohol, nudity, etc. Mmmmmm.......... all the photos that Ann has of herself include either me or a glass of wine. Oh and she also has to provide details of how she would like to be paid, so we're assuming that unless the DBS check reveals something untoward that she doesn't know about, she's got the job?!! How brilliant is she?

How she gets work, we don't know. Probably via some 'app' and she's guessing that the 'training' before she gets her first job is going to be via some online video thingy. Think it's highly unlikely that someone will actually accompany her in real life out to her first viewing with clients. I guess it's all just part of living in a technological age and working in the 'Gig Economy'.

And to get back to the title of this BLIP – A Productive Day. Ann spent almost an hour applying for her DBS check thingy online this morning. She put in details of her passport, driving licence, addresses for the last 5 years, bank cards, etc, etc, etc. It did credit checks etc, etc, etc and then popped up with a message saying that everything had been accepted and was OK. …................And then when Ann pressed 'submit', it popped up with a message saying that they couldn't verify her identity. Grrrrrrrrr..........................

Seriously......................................

So then she had to go through the whole process again, but this time print off a letter to take to the PO with the original copies of her passport, driving licence and birth certificate. However, it does pose the question?...................... How do people apply for a DBS check if they don't have a printer or indeed don't have wifi or a smart phone.

Anyway, Ann is just happy that in 2-3 weeks she might have a new job that she can dip in and out of. We'll keep you informed.

And this BLIP is of me down at Porty Beach. We went to Meadowbank Retail Park first so that Ann could look for some new trainers in TK Max – they didn't have any. We went to the beach so that I could play with my ball. I only played with my ball for half an hour but that was enough for me. You can't really tell how much it was raining in this BLIP so you'll just have to believe me when I say it was chucking it down.

I got thoroughly dried before I got back into the car. ….............And Ann had to take all her clothes off when we got back into the house!!!

Weather app is telling us it's going to be sunny from Thursday onwards. Yay!
