The Avocado rises

The seed (or stone) is still sitting in the water filled wine glass, but this young avocado is now 6 inches high with healthy looking expanding leaves and a good root system developing below.

The advice seems to be to keep it here for the moment.

If this were a hot climate, it’s future could be a very big tree. A good house plant will be OK by me.

Bird note. I home bird list since lockdown and shielding begun has now reached the dizzy heights of 38 species. Lesser black backed gull earlier in the week (taking bread from our neighbours summer house roof), and tawny owl last night calling in trees some distance away as I watered our containers and baskets.
