Hairy Feet of Ptarmigan Chicks

I have never seen these adorable little chicks before so they have to be today’s blip. I have seen adult ptarmigan many years ago and have put Mum, who I practically fell over in the rocks, and Dad, who ran away quickly while she stayed to protect the chicks, in extras. 

Today was an exceptional day, a walk from Reusch to eventually follow the valley to the Diablerets Hut. There were so many Eidelweiss, marmots, chamois, and, right above the Hut, so many bouquetin trying to keep cool (extra). Even up there at 2,500m, it was 28 degrees! We stayed to watch these magnificent animals for a couple of hours before descending in the télécabine to the Col de Pillon.
