Hardenbergia with baby emu (sculpture)

Today we headed north from Coonabarabran via Baradine to the Piliga Scrub, home to a large forest of cyprus pine, an Aussie native. Its timber is often called the bushies' timber due to its resistance to white ants. It's all dirt roads through here. I was in my element. A beautiful emu, well nourished due to the recent rains, crossed our path. We headed for the Sandstone Caves Walking Track, a mere 1.7km (after yesterday's efforts!) and walked around what appeared to be one huge rock with amazing caves formed by wind and water. This place is special to the Aboriginal people from here and they have created the track to give us access. I took lots of shots of the caves, more interested in the detail than the wide, and I have selected three for the extra. What a source of pareidolia - dingo, bird and elephant.
