Soldier beetle on fennel

I grow fennel in our wild flower garden because I love the delicate fronds . The flowers are just coming out so insects are becoming interested! 
The pond is taking longer than we expected, having filled it with water to let theliner settle, after the bricks round the edge had been set in there was a considerable amount of sand and cement dropped into it. I have spent 2 days emptying it with buckets and have just finished....  Tomorrow I will paint the morter under the bricks and then we can refill it!  Now having a refreshing G and T!
