A Self Evident Truth

As any house owner can testify, there are a couple of universal and self-evident truths. Chief of these is that flat roofs leak.

Another self-evident truth is that wooden posts will (eventually) rot.

I have previously 'blipped' here about the survival of railway wooden gate posts. They are the material of choice since they have a natural 'give' whereas concrete can so easily snap.

Unfortunately this one, at the former Rowfant Station has succumbed to nature. You can see it in its original condition back in in 1906 - its the white post on the very left
