A Thousand a Day

Lunchtime

Mother blackbird has her hands (claws? bill?) full feeding her growing family. I have been enjoying her aerobatics at the feeder for two weeks, now. She'll be relieved when they can feed themselves, I'm sure.

I learned this week that wandering albatross chicks don't fly the nest until about 40 weeks after hatching! Maybe the blackbird's lot is not such an unhappy one.
