Alleluia!
Today we were in church. Not church as it was before lockdown, but at a Sunday church service. We had a congregation of around 30, all socially distanced around the building, most wearing masks although they are not strictly necessary as we were far enough apart, but we were clearly looking after others. There was no singing either of hymns or of the setting for the Eucharist, but we were in church at last.
It was especially good to be there today as Colin and I were married there on the 26th July, 45 years ago. I don't think we would ever have been able to consider, let alone imagine, on that day, what was ahead of us. It was very special to be there on our anniversary and particularly so, for the first service after so long.
We would normally have had cake and wine in the Hall after the service, but that's not allowed just now, so we got a very loving round of applause and lots of good wishes.
My blip is of a peacock butterfly who distracted me for a while as it flew around the beautiful flower arrangements. The stained glass window is one of a pair by Patrick Ross Smith, which were gifted to the church as a memorial around 30 years ago. I love the way they cast light on the stones.
Today I really felt as if we were moving forward. Keep well and safe everybody.
