Experimenting with plums
Today was a baking day for me, because I didn't have a market stall, and I had the kitchen to myself. I'd been given the opportunity to pick some plums from a friend's tree last night, and there were too many to just eat.
After consulting some books, I made a GF plum tart, free form, and carried on to throw together some flapjacks while the oven was on, and some ice cream because the
Freezer is always on but the cream needed using up.
Time, also to do finish things up. Yesterday I finished my current book and the bird jigsaw I blipped a few days ago. One piece missing. GRRR. I also finished the miniseries Any Human Heart, on Britbox. Today's aim was to finish the audiobook, Don't Let Him Know. In this failed, but there is always tomorrow.
Started a new jigsaw, in very flat light. Didn't make great progress before Steve came home, with our new-old car. To cut a long story short, we are soon going to be the owners of a second car. I can't actually drive because I have a hidden disability, but the smaller car (Peugeot 206) will be handy for Steve's trips to the shops, because it's more fuel efficient. The car was more or less handed to us on a plate, because a 90 year old lady has had to stop driving. Steve drove me round the block in it, but he's going to have to off road it for a few days/weeks until he is the legal owner (he picked up the car from Somerset, but the log book is in London: don't ask!)
We are both very happy with it, even though it's a bit scratched.
We had supper and then watched a few things, including Gran Torino for me. The violent ending took my. By surprise, even though it was a Clint Eastwood film.
