Knuckling down
.. to read the menu! Photo by Dave.
We had an almost pre-Covid day, Dave and I. Met in Cheltenham, I d travelled by bus (just four passengers) and he by car. After running a few errands, we took Daves car to an out of town pub, the Gloucester Old Spot, for a relaxed lunch. Of course I'd had to book and leave my phone number, but that was not so weird for a Friday. The pub garden has been made over, with lots of astro turf and socially distanced seating, and Colonial style parasols. The service was relaxed, the food was good, and we are far too much. Three courses! This was my first trip to a pub after lockdown.
Nothing wrong with Daves's eating now. No more weird texts about pineapple rings and Swiss Roll, but he walks ever so slowly now. I walk like a person in training for a funny-fast-walking event.
It was after four when we left the pub garden, and I arrived back in Stroud by six. Went for a longish walk around the suburb of Uplands, visiting a friend to drop off a book, and then taking a steep road home to admire the views over the Slad Valleys.
Steve was away for the night, so I watched the final four episodes of Any Human Heart, and went to bed late, with Bomble trying to sleep on my head.
