Infirmerer’s Garden, Archbishop’s Palace

I’ve lived in and around Maidstone for 44 years and this is the first time I’ve been inside the “Infirmerer’s Garden” adjacent to the Archbishop’s Palace.

We didn’t even know this space was here until we saw an open gate in a wall as we were heading for another location for our lunch. It’s an authentic medieval herb garden which is maintained by the Kent Garden Trust. It is an oasis of calm in the hustle, bustle and noise of roads and traffic.

A lovely place for lunch that we’d brought with us as we had a few tasks to complete in town and we didn’t want to have to rush back. In the end we did have to hurry back as Susan was taking her mum to the chiropodist at 4.00pm.

While she was out and also back at her mum’s I cooked a curry for tomorrow night - courgette and potato, trimmed the lower leaves off the tomatoes and watered and fed them and all the other plants in the garden.

Thank you for the suggestions for courgette recipes. Scones and soup sound good so I’ll be having a go at them. The courgette lasagne last night was excellent.

We did one of the Joe Wicks sessions that we’d missed this morning. Tough it was too.

Also booked a winter walking holiday to the Dolomites for next February. We’ll be going with friends that we met last time we were there in 2019.
