Bee!

Went up to the allotment early-ish - did the usual stuff plus planting out some of the leeks and nudging some wee fennel plants into better positions. Mel hailed me from the cycle track where she was on her constitutional and I hurled her a couple of wee lettuces in a bag (over the high fence topped with barbed wire!).

The blip is of our delightful resident leaf-cutter bee, btw, whom we often see but almost never  snap. She seems to have to rest a while on a stone with her clipping before she takes it to wherever she nests (sometimes rolling the clipping up neatly in advance) - the extra has poor colour balance but gives an idea of what she can do in the absence of pinking shears.

Edit: in the extra she was trying to hide from me under the lid of the compost bin......
