Electric Company £150...
....OK, so there are going to be times where I will use a bit of poetic license during this series and this is my first one, but it was an electricity supplier for the capital. Some interesting facts:
Battersea Power Station is the largest brick building in Europe
The designer of BPS (Sir Giles Scott) also built another power station in the City of London called Bankside, most of you will probably know it now as the Tate Modern.
On 20 April 1964, the power station was the site of a fire that caused power failures throughout London, including at the BBC Television Centre, which was due to launch BBC Two that night.
During its period of inactivity it has been proposed to be (a) a theme park and (b) a 60,00 seater stadium for the scum (sorry typo I meant Chelsea), but as with ever with any spare speck of land available in London it is going to be a set of flats.
Thanks to you all for the comments stars and favs for St Pancras in yesterdays blip, I had no idea it would be so popular. Matthew has been rolling the dice again for tomorrows location, for anyone who is interested to know you can have a look at his blip to see what he threw.
