The penultimate day before we finish school. I'm so tired but I'm actually really glad that reception were chosen to go back after COVID- the last seven weeks have reminded me of how important it is for us all to be around other people, lest there was any doubt in my mind ;-)

The children have loved being back at school, and this afternoon we invited those who hadn't returned back to celebrate with their friends. We only had an extra three, but the others were thrilled to see them, and at least they'll all be back together in one group in September. I've been a bit worried that in the new term on the first day, they'll literally be collected by a teacher they've never even seen before, and taken to a classroom they've never been to..... thanks a bunch virus....We've been asked to be available that first day to be around on the playground to welcome them back and to mop up the tears, which might be tricky from a distance....It would have been better to have them back to get used to school again before moving on.

An Indian lady in my team cooked us a lovely lunch today as a treat- it was delicious! Chicken biriyani, dahl and raita which was a bit spicy but worth it. There's nothing like traditional Indian cooking. I hit a wall of tiredness around 11am that was hard to shake, and by the evening I was exhausted!

We've got to go in tomorrow, but the children won't be there.
