Gogi

I think this is the only picture I took of Gogi, my grandmother on my father's side. Her maiden name was Amy Hall and she was born in Stafford on 14 October 1886. Until she married my grandfather, Harold, she was a milliner. They spent most of their lives at Durlstone, a house in Maney, Sutton Coldfield, where my father and his two brothers were born. She ended her days in a flat in Doe Bank Court, Sutton Coldfield, near to where my parents lived, and died on 31 October 1980 at the age of 94.

Downliners Sect - Glendora (1966)
It seemed an unlikely choice for the Downliners Sect to choose a ballad first recorded in 1956 by Perry Como, but it becomes less surprising when one learns that the song concerns a man's crush on a department store mannequin, and the effect, at the end of the song, of finding it being disassembled during a store refit.
