Bourton on the Water

My father at the model village in Bourton-on-the-Water. This must have been taken during our return from a ten day trip to Westward Ho!, staying in a caravan, while the car was serviced and given its MOT at Elliotts' Garage, owned by my grandfather and his two sons.

We had driven down the Fosse Way from Sutton Coldfield and past what became my house in Calne over 25 years later, and returned by a similar route. With stops of 75 minutes the return journey took over eight hours at an average speed of 33 m.p.h.
