Fungus
We took a drive to Anglesey Abbey today. We had to book a slot, but despite that, we queued for a while to get in.
Once in the grounds, there were lots of people around, but there's plenty of room, so we never felt overcrowded. But it was quite noisy, with lots of shouting kids.
We basically walked all round the outside edge, saw lots of statuary and lots of trees. Walking through the woods was very pleasant. This rather excellent fungus caught my eye.
We also ventured into the herbaceous borders, where there many lovely flowers blooming, attracting lots of bees and butterflies. But W attracted the attention of many flies (he must give off a "good" smell - he always attracts the flies), including something that bit him, so we beat a hasty retreat.
When we left at 3ish, there were still lots of people coming in - even though the grounds were closing at 4.30. We're National Trust members, so it didn't cost us a penny - but I've just checked the website and see that it's £10 each to get in.
