a toe in the water

I couldn't leave without a paddle! 

We visited the beach twice today, once on our walk to the shops to buy Luke some bedding, and later on back again just to sit, enjoy the ambience and the sunshine and to dip my toes in the water.

We had a surprise meeting with two sisters who come from our home village - one of them lives in Luke's street. Nice to see familiar faces.

I left just after lunchtime - it was hard to leave Luke but good to see him settling in to such a nice place. (the extra is from the little communal garden behind his flat). His company has been one of the unforeseen benefits of lockdown. I've spent more time with him in the past three months than in the past three years and we have had some fun.
