The Bog Garden
Coughton Court, near Alcester, is still the Throckmorton family home, although it is now National Trust. Always check they’re not having a family get together before you head there. It’s haunted too.
The house is closed to the public for now, and so are the stunning Rose Maze and formal gardens.
The parkland, the orchard and the Bog Garden are open and wonderful.
In January and February, the River Arrow flooded the Bog Garden, sweeping away lots of plants. They have plans to make it more wildlife friendly and it’s already a slightly slithery delight to visit.
I’m trying to get used to wearing a mask. My debut was in our local Waitrose yesterday, and I wore one when I went to pay for my fuel this morning. Strange, not comfy but a small sacrifice if it helps keep people safe.
