Elford Hall Gardens

This was my first visit since lockdown and I’ve really missed gently strolling through this paradise.

They were fully closed for two weeks and after that, locals would call in to mow the grass. The allotments all still looked cherished and remarkable. With such skilled enthusiasts, many retired, working with patience and knowledge, it’s hardly surprising that the quality of the flowers and veg are in a league of their own.

It was busier than usual this morning, and the volunteers commented that the local community have made full use of this lovely place. They expect quite a few families with picnics this afternoon.

As it’s free to visit, there’s no need to buy tickets, but the downside is that it’s harder to restrict numbers. But Elford is such a civilised village, I can’t imagine problems.

But don’t tell anybody about this blip, just in case......
