Experimentation 1

I'm starting to play with ideas for artwork for my jewellery business Weirdstone. I ordered some herkimer diamonds a week ago but I'm still waiting for them to arrive, so in the meantime I thought I'd have a go at photographing my crystal ball. I've never tried shooting glass before so haven't tried any of the proper techniques yet.

I placed the ball on a plain white muslin which is the magnified weave you can see through the crystal. I particularly love the way the light refracts and looks like the iris of an eye.
