Field of Blue
So we've had the fields of yellow (rape) in spring, and if you were really lucky, the field of red (poppies) in the weeks just gone, but this week I spotted a field of blue near the office. So today I took an extended lunchtime walk to investigate.
The planting turned out to be Borage (extra), which I never thought of being farmed, but is apparently grown to produce a specialised oil which is high in gamma-linolenic acid, an omega 6 fatty acid, and for which demand is growing in the UK. The bees and other insects were enjoying it too!
