Allotments

Looking through the fence at the local allotments and strenuous preparation for the food to come! Are allotments a British thing? A through back to food for Britain at War? All rural folk in Vietnam, we were told on our recent holiday, are allocated land for crops based on number of people in the family. And it's taken back when the household reduces!
