Zantedeschia

The flower appeared overnight, and a close up of the bloom is an extra.  I had an idea that  the pot contained something of interest despite the fact that the plant label, as usual, had disappeared. We used to have a number of these, but they gradually  died off. Perhaps the answer is to grow them in pots, providing just the right amount of neglect.
