Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

They're off!!!

Today the Botanic Gardens reopened with a members only day and we had our first family outing or even get together since before I went to India in February. We've been looking forward to it and booked tickets as soon as they became available last week and today the weather laughed at us! We laughed back though and dressed for the occasion, more like November than June! Seven of the eight of us managed to be there and we had a good hour and a half of dry weather before the rain came down. We visited the rock garden, Andy Goldsworthy's wall and Barbara Hepworth's Gloria. We saw the ducks - who were being well fed for the first time in months, the moorhens, the heron caught a fish and we even saw tiny frogs and gazillions of slugs... although the hosta seem to be surviving remarkably well. The girls loved the wildflower meadow, see extra. I'm not quite sure how my tiny daughter manages to look so happy running with a six year old on her shoulder, but she clearly was.
We decided against the picnic in Inverleith Park afterwards, and all went our separate ways home rejoicing in the fact that we can all take so much pleasure from being together.
This afternoon I had my Cursillo reunion group which was helpful as always. Today three of the four of us should have been on Iona, I take comfort from the fact that the weather is not good.
I had a power nap this afternoon and fell sound asleep waking just in time to help with dinner and then went for a walk afterwards. I met up with a couple from church who were also walking so it was good to catch up.
More good news from the FM today, no deaths from the virus in Scotland for the 4th day running and less than 10 people in ICU. That's wonderful progress and I pray it continues.
Keep safe everybody.
10450 steps today.
