Our regional family owned supermarket chain (Booths, which everyone calls the Waitrose of the north west) prides itself on selling fruit and veg from local farmers. At this time of year one of its farmers digs his new potatoes at 2 a.m.and delivers them so they are for sale when the store opens at 7 a.m.
We can beat that. Here are the garden potatoes dug late morning and enjoyed for lunch. They were enhanced with this Swiss Chard picked at the same time.
