Cottonwood

Aptly named. When I first moved to Colorado, I had never seen a Cottonwood tree, so I was startled when I looked out one summer day and thought I saw it snowing. It was actually these seeds caught in the wind. And they do pile up on the ground like snow, too. But while they are still on the tree, they do look like tufts of cotton.
