LOCK DOWN DAY 96
Today our weather app said that it was going to rain all day. Our weather app lied which was very, very annoying as Ann wants to get our sun terrace walls re-painted. Instead she resigned herself to doing indoor jobs. She did a bit of 'touch up' painting and then she put up some new pictures in the bedroom. The new pictures are actually photos of 'MollyCollie' walking along the Cornish Coast Path. (See extras).
After that she tidied out all her kitchen cupboards. What is it with holiday makers that make them want to steal our Tupperware boxes? We don't care, we never use our Tupperware boxes. Every time we return, we find boxes without lids, lids without boxes, oh and baking trays that need replacing. To be honest, most holiday makers don't cook much in our house in normal times. We think they eat out a lot and shove the occasional pizza into the oven. Think things could be a lot different this year so Ann has bought a new set of pans ready for all the cooking they will have to do when they can't get booked into restaurants?!
For those of you who don't read our Blips regularly, we rent out our house in St Ives and are here to spruce it up for our first visitors on 11th July. We haven't been here since December so all the jobs that we normally do in March/April need to be done in the next couple of weeks.
Went for a bit of a trek around this afternoon. Still can't believe how quiet it is here. It's like St Ives in November. There's spaces in all the car parks and NO queues at the supermarkets though all the ice cream shops had small queues. Got home about 3.30pm, the sun was shining and it was lovely and hot on our sun terrace so Ann could have painted the sun terrace walls after all. Grrrrrrrrr....................... Instead she just sat outside and read trashy magazines. Lol!
Even though it's really quiet in St Ives just now, I can't go on my walks without stopping for Ann to talk to someone. Ann has a much better social life in Edinburgh, but if I go for my walks there we don't normally talk to anyone. We've only been back in St Ives for two days and every time I go out I have to sit and wait while she chats to people.
She's trying to find out what 'cleaning procedures' she should be putting in place to keep her housekeeper and visitors safe over the next few months. But to be honest, every holiday letting agency seems to be working to a different criteria and the more she reads online the more confused she gets. ….........And at the end of the day, people actually have to take responsibility for their own actions. If a holiday maker is panicking because they don't know who has sat on a sofa before them, then they really shouldn't be coming on holiday. There is far more likelihood of someone contracting Coronavirus while wandering around the very narrow streets in St Ives than there is by staying in a self contained property.
We have the bestest housekeeper in the world. Thank you Julia. But we're certainly not going to ask her to take every single item of crockery/cutlery etc out of cupboards and re-wash it which is what some websites are suggesting. #theworldhasgonemad Obviously we want to keep people safe but if visitors don't feel comfortable staying in a holiday home then they shouldn't be coming. (And yes, they will get a full refund if they cancel). We'll make a few changes to our 'cleaning schedules' BUT if visitors are that worried about staying away from home then they shouldn't be coming.
OK RANT OVER!
….............And it's still not raining. Grrrrr................... But it's almost 7pm so it's wine o'clock for my human. Hopefully she will be able to do some outdoor painting tomorrow.
Happy Saturday night peeps. xxx
