Such A Lovely Way To Spend A Morning

An early start this morning as we tried to beat the heat with an early hack with A and Monty. It was fab, China was so chilled and I saw a massive improvement in how he behaved. Last year, he would be happy to hack but only with his nose tucked in the tail of the horse in front, whereas now after the work we have put in, he is happy to go first, last or side by side. Significantly he also took the lead past a very frightening (in the eyes of a horse) traveller’s camp and through some anti car (horse) bollards that Monty found absolutely terrifying! It was a new route to me and China and we had to cross a really busy main road, he didn’t bat an eyelid at all the traffic including all the lorries as we had to wait for it to clear to cross. It was such a lovely way to spend a morning.

This afternoon, after dropping Sushi at work, I met a friend for a dog walk along the canal. It was so busy, making social distancing challenging at times as the path is quite narrow. On the plus side we got to see Jankerman’s swans with their family of cygnets looking really big and healthy. I think we’ll be choosing alternative walking routes for the near future at least.
