Edges
It looks like I'm in the middle of the countryside but I'm not, edge of town stuff. Talking of which, we all know that fella from U2 (not Um Bongo, the other one) has got his nickname because he lived on the...wait for it...edge of town, geddit? (As an aside - real name Dave I believe, grow up!!!) But my friend Jess in Sheffield used to have a friend called 'Edges', called because his face was really square and was, erm, not very round. I met him once, he looked completely normal. Geddit? I didn't.
Anyway, out early because I'd seen the weather forecast and I didn't want to go as pink as my jersey in the furnace-like heat of a Scottish lunchtime. I saved the turbo sesh out back for that kind of time. Phew, I was mafting.
Today's Playlist
And, finally, I read a couple of weeks back that Interpol lead singer Paul Banks was stuck in Edinburgh for lockdown with his girlfriend, in a flat in Marchmont overlooking The Meadows. I've kept my eyes peeled for a sighting just so I could congratulate him from a respectful distance on his scintillating and quite brilliant debut album 'Turn On The Bright Lights'. None of his other stuff mind, just that one. But alas, my rides home along Melville Drive have so far proved completely Banksless. And there's a decent pun in there somewhere that I'll just leave dangling for now...
