The F In Feline
My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,
Don't blame me for this; I didn't do it. Caro decided to drag the cat tree out of the house and put it on the deck this afternoon. To be fair to her, the boys loved it. As you can see.
We have noted that the reaction of the lads to being outside has been quite different. Jasper enjoys being outside. He needs to go out at least once a day, but he gets fed up with it quite quickly. Maybe 30 minutes tops. After that, he notices that his paws are cold, and he gets hungry and he wants his fire.
Punky would never ever come back in, if we let him. He LOVES outside. So much.
I was explaining to the Princess that there is something called the F scale for cats. It indicates how feral a cat is. It's partially to do with breeding and partially to do with upbringing.
We reckon that Jasper has a very low F scale. This is because he loves comfort and cuddles and his favourite thing is to hang out with people and having his tummy rubbed.
Punky, we think is higher F. You CAN'T pick him up. And you'd never rub his tummy. Not unless you want to come away with a bloody stump.
So there you have it. The more the cat loves being outside the more F's it has. Certainly Punky has been expressing his F's very strongly these last few days.
Come to think on it, I think I'm pretty low F myself. Most days I couldn't even give one.
S.
