An outdoors day.

Outdoors is where we like to be and we were in the garden from early morning until evening. We have a raised potager near the back wall of the garden.  We grew tomatoes there last year very successfully and a friend put in some plants for us earlier in the spring. We planted some more tomatoes today along with beans, courgette and a grapevine.  We also sowed hollyhocks, cosmos and Californian poppies.  We might be a bit late sowing and planting out but we will see what grows.  While I was digging, the spade tossed up what looked like a clod of earth; it turned out to be a small toad, see extra 1. We had dinner out on the back patio and came up to the side terrace to have tisane and watch the nightly Hirondelles acrobatic show.  Great day.  Second extra is just a comical red pepper, I don't know if it is laughing or groaning from bellyache, but it made me smile.
