It has poured all night and most of the day, although there is a big patch of blue sky up there and the sun is trying to peep through.

The garden is soaked and the poppies, roses and anemonies have been decimated, but we did need the rain.

I popped over to the local farm shop at Stagsden this afternoon and managed to pick up a bag of self-raising flour and couldn't resist their meat counter and came away with sausages and flash-fry steaks.

This juvenile greater spotted woodpecker has been in and out to the feeders all day.
