First of Many

Achimenes Purple King, the first one to flower this year, caught in a brief splash of sunshine this afternoon.  

The morning was wet and windy so indoor jobs were definitely in order.   There's a cupboard in the kitchen which now houses the boiler, it was missed out when our predecessors had the painters in.  Mustard yellow was clearly popular when it was last decorated .... fifty years ago?   Grey mouldy patches, damaged plasterwork, holes for wires and pipes long gone.  A thorough clean and lots of filler applied so far.  There will be stain covering paint and then all can be finished in white.   A good few hours more work to go.   Later I put up the rail for curtains in my room.  

Less windy but the tide was higher when we got out this evening.  Any earlier and we'd have caught high tide .... and a soaking as the waves crashed against the prom!
