Clever lass Alice.
We had a somewhat unsightly "Balanced Flue" which was practically never used. My mate Bill-of-all-trades took out the heater and patched the hole "Asbestos"; but the hole was so positioned that, to do the job properly would:-
A ) Require removal/replacement of quite a few bricks.
B ) Would still "look like a hole that's been sown up" whereby hangs a tale.
SO - he filled the hole, like I said asbestos he could.
On one of our Garden centre visits Alice saw this sun & got the idea. It can't be seen - BUT - if all the greenery was razed to the ground you'd not see the sewn up hole.
Besides, after a wee bit of wet I thought a spot of sun was in order.

The hanging tale:-
MANY decades ago our "gang" would often end up in our house for a Brew (Pre-pub ages); one lad had a, then not yet fashionable by several decades, hole in his Jeans. Mam asked him why it wasn't "fettled."
His response -
"When all's said and done Mrs. Kane it'd still just look like a hole that had been sewn up."
