Suffragette

I walked over the Downs today and around the racecourse. The weather went from being overcast to rain, then it blew a hooley and then the sun came out and it ended up really warm.
On the way round the course I saw this plaque attached to the fence. It says:-
It was from this place on 4 June 1913 that suffragette Emily Wilding Davison sustained injuries that resulted in her death at Epsom Cottage Hospital. Her lifelong dedication to women's suffrage and the contribution she made to the lives of British women, past and present, is remembered.
