Down the Drain

We had an Open Morning at singing - folks who are on the waiting list to join the group and friends of some of us members swelled the ranks and it all went off well. Just a pity we could only hear ourselves, and Robyn.

A bit of dereliction spotted in Kelso today, where we went for this weeks's supermarket shop. The town was very quiet indeed. We stopped for a short walk on the way home, and found ourselves on the old branch line which used to run from Kelso to here.  It was axed back in the sixties. 

Terrible news for our town today. There are two businesses which employ large numbers of local people, and both announced that they are pulling out. 200 jobs going. That's a lot in a place with only 4000 inhabit ants. The other main source of employment is the tourist trade, and that's non-existant at the moment. So, tough times ahead ....
